MANAGED INDIVIDUAL PATHWAYS AT FAWKNER SECONDARY COLLEGE The school runs an extensive Careers program. There is a Careers Teacher available to advise students of all year levels. All students in Years 10, 11 and 12 are counselled and a written pathway plan is established. We cater for individuals by offering VCE, VET and VCAL. Year 12 students receive counselling in course choices and selection. The Careers room is located in the Library building and contains a range of resources including Careers posters, Jobguides, University and TAFE Handbooks, vacancy board and industry information. The Careers folder on the school intranet contains many useful links to industry groups, job search sites, employment agencies, universities and TAFE colleges and private training organisations. There are also sample resumes and job application letters. All of this can be accessessed from any computer in the school. In Years 9 and 10 we offer a subject called The World of Work. This covers job searching skills, resume and application writing, education and training and interview skills. Occupational Health and Safety, superannuation, taxation, and workers rights are also covered. All Year 10 students undergo two weeks of work experience and VET students do more in Years 11 and 12. We encourage students to begin preparing for their careers while they are still at school. The following programs are offered: - Minter Ellison Partnership
- School Based Apprenticeships
- TAFE Tasters
- City Centre Worlds of Work
- School for TAFE
- Melbourne University Master Class
